A mini-break!

I hit the road this past weekend for a short one night getaway.  I missed the Michael Jackson Salute with the Regina Symphony last year and when I saw the Saskatoon Symphony was going to do the same thing this April I bought my ticket immediately!  It turned out to be a wonderful weekend. I stayed at the White Pelican Bed and Breakfast - here is the website... www.whitepelican.ca / I stayed in the Gold room and very nice it was too.  Breakfast was a spanish omelette which was delicious. Got lots of walking in as the weather was sunny and warm.  Walked along the banks of the South Saskatchewan River as far as the Circle Drive bridge one way and down through the newly developed Riverside Landing to the Farmers Market at the other end.  I was one exhausted puppy on Sunday night!  I didn't do it all at once though... Had a new experience...walked on a pedestrian railway bridge with a fence between the pedestrians and the train tracks.  Been there, done that on that particular br

Settling in but not down!

My new place is really starting to feel like home...or a good resting place in between adventures! It may not win any decorating awards but I don't give a rats' - it is my home and full of books, music, photographs and always welcome to friends. Today my friends Shirley and Brent came over and Brent hooked up my DVD player and stereo.....yippee...now I can watch movies on the TV rather than the computer. And listen to music the way it's supposed to be...not on little computer speakers or a ghetto blaster. And my record player - yes record player - is hooked up so I can really rock to the oldies. I guess I will be testing the sound proofing in here! Five weeks from today I will be in Ottawa....the next trip is all booked. I will be visiting Ottawa, Vermont (Burlington and Montpelier), Montreal and Quebec City. Gone just less than three weeks. Our annual walking conference is being held the May long weekend - it should be beautiful in Ottawa as the tulip festival

A new home

Yes I am moved and slowly getting settled in. I have downsized into a one bedroom apartment from a two bedroom...well I say downsized and I did get rid of a few things like a wall unit, deep freeze, microwave stand...um....well some clothes and really I did take quite a bit to Value Village. Really I did. But the movers did tell me I have too much 'stuff'. Hmmmff!!! (how do you spell that?) I call it a life well lived. Rubbermaid containers of photo albums and my Beatles collection take up most of my storage room. Luckily I have a huge balcony as there are still a few things out there awaiting a permanent home. This weekend I rented a car and accompanied by my best friend and her daughter I did buy some new "stuff" for my place which was fun. A new computer chair arrives tomorrow to replace the one bought in 1989, a new vacuum cleaner (the amount I clean it should last a l-o-n-g time!) - even a new blue garbage can for the bathroom. My my I was really gettin
